There has been more than one Stalin ape-man article, but the other has very contradictory facts. Apparently the scientist was real, but the circumstances of his work and death are up in the air. There are some older articles about his weird animal experiments (which seem to predate Stalin), and the political/military angles seem to have been added as an afterthought.
