It’s so tough because housing isn’t a federal-level issue; it’s (somewhat) provincial and (mostly) municipal. But everyone blames the federal govt for everything even when they’re not the right target, so yeah, they have to do SOMETHING about housing somehow.

It’s like when people yell at the federal level for how provinces have decided to spend their healthcare dollars. Doug Ford withholding massive amounts of dollars intended for Covid relief wasn’t Trudeau’s fault; Trudeau’s government sent the money to the provinces and then Doug pulled a stunt, and Trudeau got blamed.

(Not that I’m a Trudeau fan, but I’d prefer people get attacked for the bullshit they actually do, such as invading sovereign Indigenous lands. Also when people at the top get blamed for mid-tier decisions, it allows shitlords at the mid-tier to escape responsibility.)
