Settler government: Cool, so, we're just going to take it then.

How anyone could see this happening, for the entire course of Canadian history, and not be surprised when the Nice White Leader turns out to have blacked up for funsies when he taught at a private school, boggles my mind.
It's almost like this country was built on a foundation of white supremacy or something omg

Date: 2019-09-19 07:07 pm (UTC)It would be nice to imagine that, on seeing the news of Trudeau's repeated blackfacing, all the nice liberals who vote Liberal were to switch to the NDP as having some vaguely genuine progressive credentials, but somehow I doubt that's how this is going to play out.

Date: 2019-09-20 01:05 am (UTC)I'm biased—though I say this as someone who didn't vote for Jagmeet in the leadership race—but he had the most dignified, relevant response. The fact that it's getting relatively little media coverage compared to Scheer's whatever suggests that missteps by the NDP aren't the entire reason they're fighting the Greens for distant third.
