Let's go with It Could Happen Here's "The Canadian Election: NOTHING EVER HAPPENS," which is Canadian-born Gare's attempt to explain what just happened to ICHH's primarily American audience. It's nothing you don't know if you either live here or read my blog, but it's actually a useful reminder that the international media (including independent media) is framing our election very differently than we are. I don't really disagree with any of Gare's analysis, beyond that sometimes they screw up the names of political parties.

But you know. I've been going through a stressful time lately, and I'm often waking up sad and frustrated by my own wasted potential. And then I remember that Poilievre lost his own seat and it makes me happy for a good five minutes.

I won't tell you not to wake up sad and frustrated*, but focus on the good.
He'll be ok.
Teck needs a director.

(*When I was a teen I was convinced how I woke up defined my day, but I was a teen. It did seem to hold true, but these days... I just regret waking).

I'm vaguely pleased at the schism vibes emerging in the CPC. It would be bonus points if the CPC split in two.

I’m puzzled by the idea that the international media is framing it differently. I just re-read articles from BBC, CNN, CBS, and ABC to see if I was misremembering, but no, they said the same thing as my understanding: this election was basically a referendum on Trump’s bullshit. We elected Carney because we didn’t want PP cozying up to Trump and selling out Canada.

Is my framing different than most Canadians?

Also the one bright spot in the UK elections is that the Tories under Badenoch fared even worse than Labour. Turns out you can't really capitalize on anti-incumbent sentiment when you are an unlikable, overly online weirdo. I think there's a good chance we can all work together to get PP out of politics, or at least Byrne.

PP lost his official house along with his seat.
