What is your karaoke song?

What would your karaoke song be if karaoke bars had any and all possible songs available?

Man Size. And I would get all Diamanda Galas with it. Maybe I should go out tonight...

OHHH YEAAAH.

I kid, I kid. Though this does bring back odd memories. I think My Song would be something I could sing with me sister, and something extremely nostalgic, so maybe the Sailor Moon theme in Japanese? Or Are You There by Oleander. I will probably think of the ultimate karaoke song later and slap my forehead.

Meh, very ordinary, but still:

KT Tunstall's "Suddenly I See", because I'm just so fucking optimistic.

AND

Scissor Sisters' "I Can't Decide" - mainly because it reminds me of the Master.

The best karaoke I ever did was New Radicals' "You Get What You Give". Not my favourite song, but a crowd pleaser. I can't think of anything better, although "With or Without You" got me laid once.

oooh, there's two:

the river, by Bruce Springsteen, and Lights, by Journey. both are on the list at the Mint (fabulous SF karaoke bar). One of these days....

i always try to sing either "independence day" by martina mcbride or "wide open spaces" by the dixie chicks when i do karaoke. country music was made for karaoke. and if they have charlene's "i've never been to me" i ALWAYS sing it. it brings the house down. i sang it at a lesbian taco joint in rehoboth beach, delaware a 10 years ago and all the mulleted lesbians went BAT.SHIT. it was great. "voices that care" is pretty great too, just for pure awfulness on pretty much every level.

At the Limelight in Winnipeg MY song was Because the Night (a la 10,000 Maniacs); repertoire also included Gimme One Reason (Tracy Chapman), Mother Mother (Tracy Bonham), Moondance (Van Morrison), and Dreams (Fleetwood Mac), a few others depending who else was there. I Touch Myself (the Divinyls) on very special occasions.

If they had all possible songs . . . Rid of Me (PJ Harvey), Death on Two Legs (Queen), Firewater, Veda Hille . . . whatever I bloody felt like!

I usually do 'Back in the USSR' because it only requires a limited range, and it winds up Tories, for some reason.
